Why should you make a gift to Family Service & Guidance Center?

"because every child deserves a happy childhood."

Thousands of children and families in our community are happier and healthier because individuals like you make gifts to Family Service & Guidance Center.

Gadiel was 13 years old when his behavior and personality took a turn. He became very disrespectful toward his mother and teachers. His grades slipped badly. He quit playing soccer and stepped away from the school orchestra – two activities he’d always loved. He even considered taking his own life.

Gadiel’s mother knew he needed extra support, so he began participating in FSGC’s Youth Development Program after school. Working with dedicated YDP group leaders, he began to rebuild his relationship with his mother. He started getting his motivation back. He figured out why he was so disrespectful and angry, and he learned how to handle it in a positive way.

Today, Gadiel and his mother go for walks, cook dinner together and have long conversations. He just started high school and is taking honors classes. He says he wants to go to college and become a mental health care professional so he can help kids like himself.

Your gift makes a tremendous difference in the lives of children and teens like Gadiel by helping FSGC provide a range of activities and programs. For example:

  • A $50 donation would allow up to 40 children living with mental health issues to participate in an Art Day activity facilitated by professional artists and FSGC staff members. Art empowers many children to express themselves when words simply won’t come.

  • $100 would provide a week’s worth of transportation for 15 young children to attend FSGC’s therapeutic preschool. Most FSGC preschoolers have been expelled from multiple community daycares due to their severe behavior. At FSGC, they learn to follow directions, share, make friends and express feelings appropriately – skills they will use today, tomorrow and for a lifetime.

  • A $100 gift would make it possible for a child who is terrified of thunderstorms or refuses to read in front of her class to discover her own strength and overcome her debilitating fear in the FSGC Anxiety Treatment Program.

  • Your $250 contribution can help a frightened family with a suicidal child get the assessment and immediate services they need from FSGC’s crisis team to feel safe and secure.

Children and teens like Gadiel need your help. Your gift to Family Service & Guidance Center can give them the happy childhood they deserve. Make your gift today.
