Works of Heart art event celebrates creative kids, raises record amount.
More than 100 amazing pieces of art–including several created by Family Service & Guidance Center clients–helped raise over $101,000 at the 8th annual Works of Heart Art Event and Auction on Friday, August 22. Nearly 400 art lovers, community leaders and FSGC supporters were in attendance.
Highlighting the live auction were 13 pieces created by the 2014 Featured Artists, FSGC clients whose artwork was selected by agency staff, board members and volunteers. They were auctioned off alongside pieces donated by leading professional artists from across the Midwest. There was also a silent auction with more than 100 items available.
The amount raised is a new record for this event. It’s also the second year in a row Works of Heart has raised over $100,000. Funds will benefit children, teens and families through the FSGC Foundation which was set up to ensure that mental health care services are readily available in the community.
“I couldn’t be happier with this year’s event,” Pam Evans, Director of Marketing & Development said. “Our Featured Artists enjoyed an evening where they were the stars, and they got to see their pieces auctioned off–some for over $1,000! The smiles on their faces were more than worth the ticket price.”
